646f9e108c Ari Taub's gritty World War II drama, set after the tide had turned on the Axis powers in 1944, chronicles the conflict through the eyes of an ill-fated unit of German soldiers and their disheveled Italian allies. Shot on location in Italy, the film boasts a unique cinematic style that evokes the feeling of authentic newsreel footage, focusing on the drama of human emotion rather than the spectacle of violent warfare. The story of ordinary men during WWIIseen from three different points of View. It is a symbolic, timeless cinematographic masterpiece of the human heart and spirit , during the incomprehensible and overwhelming horrors of "civilization's " wars. The choice of black and white film ,the paucity of special effects , the excellent and delicate direction by Ari Taub ,a sensitively written screenplay and movie score ,and a talented ensemble cast and crew seemed to have helped bring out the human aspects of each characterthe story unraveled …The movie was about two hours long , but yet totally engaging and at the same time entertaining. The Fallen is definitely unlike most war movies…and is in a league of it's own.It deserves at least an Oscar nomination for best director and possibly other nominations. Who ever gets lucky and picks up this movie for distribution will have a gold mine in their hands. I give it five stars out of five*****. Bravo!!! Claude Laniado, actor I had the pleasure of seeing an early screening of this ambitious new film by Ari Taub. Filmed in beautiful black and white, the Fallen tells a familiar war story from multiple points of view: all compelling and expertly told. The cinematography, sound, acting, and screenplay are all top-notch, continuing an exciting trend of unknowns who consistently transform peanut production dollars into cinematic gold. My prediction is that we'll be looking back on The Fallen years from now and marveling at a virtual "who's who" of 21st century working actors in Hollywood and international films. High praise to all involved. If you're a real movie fan, find this film and savor every last minute of it! The European actors (especially Sartor) give commendably realistic performances, but the film suffers from an episodic script, which contributes to the sense of anticlimax when the battle finally arrives.
